چکیده

Alkylcyanoacrylate particles were physico-chemically characterized in terms of size, surface charge, zeta potential, interaction with charged serum components and surface hydrophobicity as relevant parameters influencing the in vitro interaction with cells in culture and the in vivo organ distribution and fate after intravenous administration. Methyl-, ethyl-, isobutyland isohexylcyanoacrylate particles were found to be very similar with regard to these properties. Large differences existed with regard to their degradation behaviour. The type of degradation (surface erosion) was determined by photon correlation spectroscopy, and the degradation velocity was evaluated using a turbidimetric assay. Surface modification of the particles by a polymer coating affected neither the type nor the velocity of the degradation.

Self-assembling lipid modified glycol-split heparin nanoparticles suppress lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation through TLR4-NF-κB signaling.

Self-assembling heparin nanoparticles have attracted much attention as promising drug carriers for various drugs, genes and imaging agents. In the present investigation, we found that heparin nanoparticles are selective Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) antagonists and have a much greater anti-inflammatory effect than native heparin. More specifically, we developed self-assembling nanoparticles comp...

The Effects of Different Ionic Liquid Coatings and the Length of Alkyl Chain on Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Properties of Silver Nanoparticles

Introduction The antibacterial efficacy and toxicity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) depends on their physicochemical properties including size, shape, surface charge and surface coatings. The Objectives of this study were: i) To synthesize and characterize positively charged AgNPs coated by different ionic-liquids with different alkyl chain lengths, ii) To evaluate the antimicrobial activity o...

Amphiphilic poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone nanoparticles as carriers for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: characterization and in vitro controlled release of indomethacin.

Novel amphiphilic poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone derivatives with different molecular weight of hydrophilic PVP fragment and one secondary di-n-alkyl terminal hydrophobic fragment of different length were synthesized to compare their inclination for formation of nano-scaled micelle-like aggregates in aqueous media with previously studied primary n-alkyl terminated poly-N-vinylpyrrolidones. The behavio...

Immobilization of Lipases on Alkyl Silane Modified Magnetic Nanoparticles: Effect of Alkyl Chain Length on Enzyme Activity

BACKGROUND Biocatalytic processes often require a full recycling of biocatalysts to optimize economic benefits and minimize waste disposal. Immobilization of biocatalysts onto particulate carriers has been widely explored as an option to meet these requirements. However, surface properties often affect the amount of biocatalysts immobilized, their bioactivity and stability, hampering their wide...
